
The Sikh community in Leeds will be launching Bring a Spade Day – in a bid to raise £9000 to plant over 550 trees to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The project has been planned in conjunction with Sikh Mental Health & Wellbeing Leeds, Grass Roots Opportunities (GRO) and Leeds City Council Parks & Countryside.
A team of dedicated volunteers will plant 550 trees at Carr Manor Fields and one tree at Roundhay Park, to establish the Guru Nanak Woodlands, part of the Leeds Forest initiative.
Tree planting will take place between 10am to 2pm, with an opening ceremony commencing at 3pm on Saturday 21st November at Carr Manor Fields, Stonegate Road, Leeds LS6 4LX.
